Ulo Pro designs and installs the network and Wi-Fi, the audio and video, the lighting control and the security in commercial spaces, hospitality venues and high-end homes. The work starts from the plans, alongside the builder and the architect, and continues after the walls are closed. One owner-operator, from the first walkthrough to the call three years later.

What we do

Network, Wi-Fi and cabling
Structured cabling, racks and a wired backbone, with Wi-Fi that covers the whole site, from the back office to the patio, the dock or the guest house. Starlink installed and made part of the network where the wired service never reached.
Audio-video
Background and distributed audio, displays, meeting rooms, home theaters and rooms built for listening. Set up so the people who use them can run them without a manual.
Lighting control and automation
Scenes, shades, thermostats and locks on one system, so there is one app, not seven.
Security and cameras
Cameras, access control, door locks and alarms, laid out around how the place is actually used and who has to get where.
Support after the install
Remote monitoring, a person who already knows the building, and a number that gets answered. Available as ongoing, retainer-style care for sites and houses that want it.

Working with builders and architects

Send the plan set early. Ulo Pro marks up the drawings with device locations, cable runs and sleeves, prices the low-voltage scope from them, and coordinates with the builder, the architect and the electrical contractor so the work lands where it was drawn.

The person who walks the site and writes the proposal is the person on the ladder, and the same person answers the phone afterward. That keeps the scope honest and the change orders short.

Lake houses

On Lake Martin, Smith Lake and Lake Guntersville, Ulo Pro wires lake houses so the Wi-Fi reaches the dock, the music reaches the water, and the house can be checked from wherever the owner is during the week. More on Lake Martin.

Where we work

Commercial and hospitality projects are scoped one at a time, from a walkthrough or a plan set (more on commercial work). Lake houses on Lake Martin, Smith Lake and Lake Guntersville: Alexander City, Dadeville, Eclectic, Jasper, Cullman, Arley, Crane Hill, Guntersville, Scottsboro and the coves in between. We are based in Birmingham.

About

CJ Jones spent about a decade at Apple before he started his own company. That is where he learned how IT should be run and how people should be treated when it breaks: the support discipline, the customer service, the insistence that the thing simply works.

Started looking after the IT that small businesses in Birmingham run on: the network, the email, the machines on people's desks.
The physical side
The work kept pulling toward the cabling in the walls, the cameras at the door, and the rooms where the audio and the picture have to work every time. For several years he helped run an audio-video and home automation company in the city.
Day to day
He carries the systems for a hospitality property in Birmingham with multiple tenants and live venues, among them a listening lounge built around a Dolby Atmos system with 85,000 watts of amplification behind it. The network, the cameras, and the audio and video all have to hold up on a Saturday night. That is the standard he brings to every job.
